The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the rate of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into . It's proving rewarding too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
